Attending events and conferences
Industry events - a great way to keep up with trends
Attending industry events is a great way to find out about the latest trends and get ideas and inspiration, as well as providing a networking opportunity for you to connect with like-minded people to work on solutions together. Tourism industry events at a regional, national and sector level, as well as sustainability and business-related events, can all provide valuable insights and opportunities. Set aside some budget each year to attend key events, and distribute the attendance around your staff if you have a larger team.
Don’t forget to set up a system to ensure that those attending the events pass valuable information and learnings around to the rest of the team. It could be as simple as having a process where the people attending industry events are required to give a debrief at the next staff meeting – or perhaps circulate notes about the event.
