Owned by Tourism New Zealand, Qualmark is New Zealand tourism’s official quality assurance organisation. Following an evaluation, a Qualmark business will receive a Bronze, Silver or Gold award based on their performance under Qualmark’s Sustainable Tourism Business Criteria. Accommodation businesses will also receive an official star rating that denotes the quality of the facilities on offer.

The resources will initially be available in English, Te Reo Māori, German and Chinese, with more languages to follow. The Tiaki Promise initiative was conceived and developed by seven key organisations, including Tourism Industry Aotearoa, Tourism New Zealand, Air New Zealand, Māori Tourism, Local Government New Zealand and Tourism Holdings Ltd.
