Air New Zealand introduces cups made from plants

Air New Zealand has introduced new coffee cups made from plants, not plastic, on board all flights and in lounges across its global network.

The coffee cups are able to be commercially composted in New Zealand, while new water cups introduced in September are recyclable in New Zealand. Customers are also being encouraged to bring their own empty reusable cups on board with them if they wish to.

This is just step one in a broader programme of work Air New Zealand is doing to eliminate as much plastic and waste as possible from its operations.

Switching out coffee cups alone will prevent around 15 million cups from going to landfill each year.
